Clear Comms

This handy one-page document from Prosper Strategies outlines best practice for what you need to do to ensure your communications are clear in this uncertain time.

Data Protection & Security

  • Free learning sessions from the National Cyber Security Centre. All online, it guides you through all the actions you need to take to reduce the likelihood of you becoming a victim of the most common cyber attacks.
  • The Small Charities Coalition has some wonderful resources on digital safety, remote working, and GDPR. Make sure your staff brush up on data security, especially in shared home environments, and even more so if they have any physical files.
  • There is a one-hour ‘GDPR and Home Working’ webinar available from Protecture.
  • Take a look at the ICO guidelines & FAQS to keep updated.

Digital Work

  • Matt Haworth’s ‘The Digital Fundraising Book’ is available for free to help more charities embrace digital fundraising.
  • Charity Digital has a comprehensive list of courses are available (many of them free) covering a whole host of digital topics, including social media and digital marketing, data security, data analysis, and more. They also have discounted software.
  • Digital Candle provide free digital advice for charities. Submit a question (no matter how broad or specific), and they will connect you with a volunteer expert.

IT & Tech

  • IT for Charities provides a  resource guide for IT training opportunities for charities.
  • TechSoup run the largest technology philanthropy programme in Europe. There are many courses available, including Microsoft Digital Skills.

 

Skilled Volunteers & Expert Support

  • Taproot Plus connects charities with skilled volunteers. Post your requirements and they will try and match you with an appropriately qualified volunteer.
  • Pilotlight offer a range of different programmes including providing business experts to support frontline charities through mentoring and strategy support.
 
Regulatory Compliance
  • There is a useful 40-minute webinar recording of the FSI Big Advice Day ‘Guide to Charity Reserves’.
  • Sawyer Vincent have a dedicated page of free resources including Financial governance, Introduction to SORP, Gift Aid, and many more.
  • The FSI have a Charity Advice Hub which provides guidance on a whole range of areas.

Employment Lawyers Association Network

Discussion and support through Zoom meetings and Slack group to allow for information sharing and joined-up response to emerging issues. Open to any not-for-profit advice or campaigning organisation working on employment/workers’ rights in London.
