The Legal Advice Sustainability Scheme (LASS) is now open for applications, marking a new chapter in how LLST supports organisations delivering vital legal advice services in London and the South East.
The sector is operating in an increasingly challenging environment. Demand for advice remains high, while organisations continue to face pressures relating to funding, workforce capacity, governance, digital infrastructure and long-term organisational resilience.
LASS builds on more than a decade of learning from LLST's Centres of Excellence (COEx) programme and has been shaped by the experience and priorities of the legal advice sector. It is grounded in the belief that advice organisations understand their communities and are best placed to determine what they need to thrive. By combining unrestricted funding with tailored consultancy, training and peer learning, LASS invests in organisations' own priorities, strengthens connections across the sector and supports a resilient, sustainable advice sector that can continue standing alongside communities facing injustice.
The first funding opportunity under LASS is our Main Grants programme, with this round open exclusively to eligible organisations in the South East. Successful organisations will receive £75,000 of unrestricted funding over five years, tailored consultancy support, access to training for staff and volunteers, and opportunities to learn with and from other organisations. We are pleased to launch LASS and look forward to working alongside a cohort of organisations committed to protecting access to justice and delivering high-quality legal advice within their communities.
