Emma Turnbull

External Position

Pro Bono & Community Investment Officer at Allen & Overy.

When did you first get involved with LLST?

Back in 2004, helped with the launch and A&O’s private client department helped set up the charity. Supported the Trust from the start co-ordinating walk teams at A&O.

What is your favourite part of the role?

If I can’t say working with Bob, it would have to be working alongside the other trustees who are all very passionate about the aims of the charity, who bring an immense amount of dedication and insight at trustee meetings.   As well as knowing what a difference our decisions can have on vulnerable people in our society who need a robust and safe environment in which they can receive the help they need.

What is the worst part of the role?

Not having more funds – trustee meetings are difficult when there are so many worthwhile applications to consider.

Have there been any memorable moments?

At end of the first walk and thinking £35,000 was an amazing total!

What do you hope to see in the future for LLST/ the agencies we support?

Less emergency funding to keep doors open and more funding to helping them work strategically and more collaboratively with each other.

When you are not working or volunteering what can you be found doing?

I love Bikram yoga when I find the time and avoiding attending Chelsea football matches with my husband!

Favourite Book or Film?

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
