Why did you get involved in LLST?

I am passionate about fairness and equality of access to human rights, particularly justice. Throughout my career, I have undertaken roles focused on removing structural barriers to equality in education and the third sector. I’m now very excited to be more involved in legal support and services. I see the work that LLST does as fundamental, by overcoming structural barriers caused by economic disadvantage and enabling people to access legal advice, support and representation. These are requisites for fair access to justice, particularly for those who are vulnerable and marginalised in society.

As a trustee, I hope to combine my lived and professional experience in strategy, organisational development and equality, diversity & inclusion to support the work of LLST across a range of operations and priorities.

What is your favourite part of the role?

I’m excited to support LLST to continue to deliver its mission and adhere to its values, especially during these times of tremendous change. My favourite part of the role will be contributing to strategy development and helping develop policies and procedures that further promote inclusivity. I’m also looking forward to promoting and actively engaging with LLST fundraising activities.

What do you hope to see in the future for LLST/ the agencies we support?

My main hope for LLST and the agencies we support is resilience, to ensure ongoing success for the future. LLST has done remarkably well in the face of a global pandemic and other challenges, demonstrating its creativity, adaptability and resolve to continue raising funds and supporting vital legal services. So I hope we take the opportunity to learn lessons, consolidate our strengths and bolster our strategy for the future.

When you are not working or volunteering what can you be found doing?

Raising my energetic daughter of three. Going swimming, visiting parks and zoos, painting, baking, and building Lego kingdoms. I’m passionate about my community and try to get involved as much as I can, particularly in my capacity as a school governor. I’m also a strong advocate for health and well-being and can be found jogging up and down the riverbank.
