The Billing Project is an initiative funded by the Legal Education Foundation (LEF) and the London Legal Support Trust (LLST), to aid and support the free legal advice sector with their billing needs. Improved billing helps enable the advice agencies to secure cashflow and increase income.

The first pilot involved funding the position of one Billing Coordinator in an advice centre. Within a year, the role had become self-sustaining.

The third billing project was supported by LEF and the City Bridge Foundation, and involved six advice agencies:

The fourth project began in 2024. Advice agency partners are beginning billing coordinator recruitment in early 2025.
