Reading Legal Walk 2020

Regional Walks 20 Fundraising Totals

Registration is now closed for the Reading Legal Walk 2020.

Thank you so much to everyone who took on 10km for justice! Together you have raised £10,858 so far for local advice agencies in Reading, making 2020 a record-breaking year for the event!

The Reading Legal Walk is a sponsored 10km walk which raises funds for frontline free legal advice services in Reading and the Thames Valley.

Due to social distancing measures. this year  teams will walk in groups of 6 or less walkers. There will be no set start or end venue. Teams start wherever and whenever convenient for them on the route.

In addition to walkers walking the route, those who can't get in to Reading are invited to join their team anyway and walk their 10k wherever they are.

The important thing is that we raise as much as possible for the advice agencies who are struggling to maintain services with the increased challenges created by COVID 19 and the lockdown.

The number of people seeking help with Debt, Benefits and Employment has increased dramatically since the start of the pandemic. Those seeking help with Domestic Violence has also risen sharply  and , in September, when the stay on evictions is lifted there will be a "tsunami" of people facing homelessness.

The current Covid-19 government guidance on meeting in groups states that you should only meet with people you do not live with in three types of groups: up to six people in an outdoor space, single adult households, or a group of two households in any location.

Social distancing measures must be maintained at all times.

It is against the law for gatherings of more than 6 people to take place in private homes (including gardens and other outdoor spaces), or in a public outdoors space, except for in certain circumstances as listed on the government website. If gathering in a group please ensure that social distancing is maintained - if you are meeting in your office follow your organisation's Covid-19 risk assessment policies.

Please be aware that the Reading Legal Walk route will not have marshals. Responsibility for safe social distancing lies with the individual.
