Reading Legal Walk 2018

Add Heading (4)

A huge thank you to all who took part and raised funds at the Reading Legal Walk. Together, you have raised £8,000 (and counting).

The Reading Legal Walk is a 10km after work walk that raises funds for legal advice agencies in Reading and the Thames Valley.

The walk will be led by DJ Comiskey and a team from Reading Courts.

All walkers will receive a free drink at the end of the walk by courtesy of Beaufort Financial (Reading )

The 2017 Reading Legal Walk saw 130 walkers take on 10k for justice. The walk raised a wonderful £6,500 to support specialist legal advice services in Reading and the Thames Valley.

Bob Nightingale, founder of LLST, commended the lawyers for supporting local advice agencies saying:

"In recent years life has become even harder for the most disadvantaged people. Austerity has caused hardship among the poorest people and created problems such as debt and homelessness. Often the advice agencies are the only place where those people can get help.

"2013 cuts to legal aid for many areas of welfare law mean that people who can't afford to pay a solicitor can no longer turn to high street solicitors for help with matters such as benefits, employment or disrepair. Now changes to the benefits rules for people with disabilities is creating even more pressure on the advice agencies.

It's fantastic that local lawyers will turn out year after year to raise funds to help to ease that problem,"
