Amanda Illing - Trustee

External Position

CEO at Hardwicke Chambers

When did you first get involved with LLST?

I helped co-ordinate the walking team in my last job in the early years of the Walk.  I was delighted to be invited to join the Trustee Board in 2012.

What is your favourite part of the role?

Playing a small part in helping Bob, Natalia and the rest of the team do what they do so brilliantly, and to contribute ideas and time where I can.  Being in a position to decide jointly with the other trustees on awarding vital funds to organisations that will help vulnerable people in our society, and to show support to the fantastic people who work tirelessly in those organisations, so they don't give up hope.

What is the worst part of the role?

Not having a limitless pot.

Have there been any memorable moments?

Dressing up as Little Red Riding Hood, with my husband David dressed up as the Big Bad Wolf(e), and managing to raise over £1000 in raffle ticket money at the 2012 Halloween Ball. Great fun!

What do you hope to see in the future for LLST/ the agencies we support?

More funding to help organisations work on strategic and longer-term initiatives where possible.

When you are not working or volunteering what can you be found doing?

Outside work, my husband and I split our time between London and Suffolk, and we are currently restoring an old narrowboat on the Regent's Canal as the latest mad project.
