New Legal Services Planned in East London
The London Legal support Trust has committed £145,000 for three years to develop new free legal services in East London.
The Project, due to start in April 2007 will be led by Tower Hamlets Law Centre. The aim is to develop new Law Centre type services in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Waltham Forest while ‘joining up’ services in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham.
Trust Chair, Bob Nightingale says that ‘The Trust is delighted to support the initiative. In East London, there is exceptionally high need in the inner Boroughs and very little in the way of quality social welfare legal services in the outer Boroughs. Tower Hamlets Law Centre will lead an organisation of new and existing services that will enable the area to lever new resources.’
